These reconstructive
procedures have been commonly paid for by insurance carriers in the past
because they are considered necessary for good health and are not solely
for "cosmetic" reasons. The corrective surgery may even prevent
further damage. However the status of coverage has to be ascertained prior
to the surgery.

Nasal, Septal, and Sinus Surgery
Nasal
Rhinoplasty is indicated to correct problems resulting either from injuries
to the nose or undesirably shapes that may be genetically induced. Some
feel their nose is too large, too small, crooked, too broad, may have a
bulbous tip or an undesirably hump. All of these problems can be addressed
either with a reduction, reshaping, or an implant.
Septoplasty
Septoplasty is necessary to correct airway obstructions, such as a deviated
septum. Both surgeries take one to two hours and are usually done under a
local or general anesthetic.
Sinus
Sinus surgery using endoscopes was brought into this country through Dr.
Kennedy and Heinz Stammberger MD at Johns Hopkins, while Dr. Jones was
studying at Johns Hopkins. Therefore Dr. Jones is one of the few surgeons
able to operate on all three areas of the nose.
Breast Reduction
Large breasts are frequently a medical problem causing multiple health
problems and the surgery is frequently covered by insurance. Chronic back
pain and shoulder pain are helped by the reduction of breast weight and
droopiness. Dr. Jones uses a technique from Stanford that minimizes pain
and bleeding and preserves nipple sensational and location so that breast
feeding is an option afterwards.
Correction of scars from trauma
Cuts, abrasions, and deformities from car accidents, dog bits, etc. are usually
covered by insurance. Dr. Jones uses flaps, Z plasti, etc… to surgically
optimize their appearance.
Abdominoplasty (ex.1)
Dr. Jones does four different types since studying with Dr. Illouz the
inventor of liposuction. Liposuction makes the procedures much safer and
less painful because of the preservation of the blood supply. The lateral
advancement technique allows for contouring of the abdomen as well as
narrowing the waist. Overstretched abdominal wall muscles can be tightened
through small incisions.
Otoplasty
Correction of "Dumbo" ears or prominent ears can make a world of
difference to a child who is called names. Usually this procedure has a
high re-do rate, but Dr. Jones has combined 3 techniques that virtually
eliminate recurrences. All the scars are in the back.
Congenital Deformities
Congenital deformities such as cleft lip may be debilitating to a young
person. The nose may be deformed or misshaped and frequently these
procedures may be covered by insurance.
