Dr. Jones is a very well-trained Plastic Surgeon, having been educated at the finest institutions in the world. Indeed, Georgia is fortunate to have one of its native sons go to England, France, California, and Johns Hopkins to learn the Most up-to-date techniques in plastic surgery and bring these techniques and skills to Georgia.

Know your Surgeon!

The training that Dr. Jones has had is unusual in both quality and quantity. There are few surgeons who have had such an extensive preparation of 21 years. It began in Atlanta at Emory University where Dr. Jones completed his pre-medical studies. While at Emory he received a rotary Scholarship from the state of Georgia because of his excellent record. On account of the scholarship and his outstanding work at the Medical college of Georgia, he was able to attend the University of Canterbury in New Zealand, and the Honours School of Physiology in the Medical School at Oxford University, England, over a 3 year period. Thereafter he completed his medical school at the University of Georgia, earning four degrees in four years.

Twelve years of surgical training followed: two years were spent in general Surgery with the first at the Medical University Hospital in Charleston, South Carolina, and the second in Baltimore, Maryland. Four years of rigorous training followed at the world-famous John Hopkins Hospital specializing in facial surgery. At Hopkins the emphasis was on the head and neck, nasal anatomy, the sinuses, ear surgery, and neck structures. The fourth year at Hopkins, Dr. Jones became a faculty member and was active in teaching and directing surgical residents specializing in ear, nose, and throat surgery (ENT). This was followed by 3 years at the renowned Plastic Surgery program at Stanford University in California where many pioneering events in Plastic Surgery have taken place.

Plastic surgery is big in California! This fascination with youth and appearance makes it a most desirable place to train in Plastic Surgery.

Moreover, Dr. Jones was given, as a representative of Stanford, a Fulbright Fellowship to study in Paris, France, for a year with the genius of Plastic Surgery, Dr. Paul Tessier, who is the "Father of Facial-Cranial Surgery," as well as Dr. Yves Illouz, the inventor of liposuction; Dr. Vladimir Mitz, whose studies and techniques have advanced the face-lift procedures into its modern form; Dr. Renee Malik, who has pioneered children's cleft lip and cleft palate surgery; Dr. Dardour-a pioneer in hairflaps; and Dr. Jost-the French nose surgeon who, like Dr. Jones, has completed training in both ENT and Plastic Surgery.

Dr. Jones moved to Atlanta in November 1989 to return to his native Georgia for several reasons. One is to raise his family in Atlanta and to bring back to Georgia the fruits and talents he has obtained from his 21 years of training at the leading centers in the United States and in Europe and to help make Atlanta a better center for Plastic Surgery.

Dr. Jones' professional papers have appeared in several medical journals including "The Annals of Plastic Surgery," as well as presented at multiple conferences including the American Society of Head and Neck Surgery and the XIII World Congress. He has been quoted and interviewed by such general magazines as Women's Daily and for CBS television's Sixty Minutes by Diane Sawyer as well as local television stations. He is also a guest speaker and lecturer in the community. He has been a participant in the nationally recognized Interplast program volunteering his services to poor children of South America who cannot afford to have surgery on their cleft lips or cleft palates or burn scars.

Liposuction/Fat Removal (ex. 1) (ex. 2) (ex. 3)
Over the years, liposuction has proven to be a tested, safe, and effective way to permanently remove fat cells. Dr. Jones uses liposuction routinely in conjunction with a facelift to sculpt away fat from cheeks, chin, and neck areas.

Body contouring in both men and women via liposuction is used excellently in contouring thighs, hips, buttocks, arms, knees, ankles, and especially the abdominal area. Dr. Jones has spent one year in Paris with the inventor of liposuction-Dr. Yves Illouz.

Local or general anesthetic is used, depending upon the areas involved and the amount of fat to be removed.

Face and Neck Lift (ex. 1) (ex. 2)
Many people, through exposure to the elements, aging, or genetic tendencies, experience excess skin around the the face and neck. This results in wrinkles, sags, and the appearance of excessive aging.

The face and neck lift is designed to remove and tighten lax, sagging skin, muscle and fat! The total procedure takes from 3 to 5 hours and is performed under a local anesthetic or general anesthesia.

Forehead Lift (ex.1)
Wrinkling of the forehead drooping of the eyebrows can give you a "perpetual frown" and a worried, sad, or even mad appearance. Correction is often done in conjunction with a face-lift and is accomplished under a local anesthetic or general anesthesia.

Surgery of the Nose (ex. 1) (ex. 2)
Cosmetic nasal surgery is one of the more common surgical procedures. RHINOPLASTY is indicated to correct problems resulting either from injuries to the nose or undesirable shapes that my be genetically induced. Some feel their nose is too large, too small, crooked (right or left), too broad, may have a bulbous tip or an undesirable hump. All of these problems can be addressed-either with reduction, reshaping or an implant.

SEPTOPLASTY is necessary to correct airway obstructions, such as a deviated septum. Both surgeries take one to two hours and are usually done under a local or general anesthetic.

Face Peel
Fine wrinkles about your lips that are not improved by face lifting can be improved in some cases by facial peel. Peeling may be done as an isolated procedure or it may be used as an indispensable adjunct to face lifting.

Body Contour Surgery
Correctional procedures on loose or fatty tissues around the abdomen, thighs, arms, or buttocks, can be performed. Various procedures, either isolated or combined with liposuction, can be appropriate. These procedures vary from person to person, but often a hospital recovery is required after the general anesthetic.

Abdominoplasty (ex. 1)
This procedure can be done for cosmetic or rehabilitative reasons. Repair is carried out on the skin, muscle and fat layers. Liposuction is done in conjunction with the abdominoplasty. Dr. Jones performs four different types of abdominoplasty-depending on the needs and desires of the patient.

Collagen Injections
Injection of manufactured proteins can fill the scars of acne or trauma and minimize the wrinkle links suggestive of aging. for certain persons with acne scars, traumatic scars, or wrinkles, these injections can be quite helpful. They are not, however, a replacement for surgery; they are adjutant procedure. Dr. Jones' associate in California, Dr. Perkins, developed collagen for injection.

Fat Injection
Fat Autotransplantation and Mocrolipoinjection are the technical names for the procedure when fat is removed from one area and reinjected where a buildup is beneficial.

External Ear Surgery (ex. 1)
Protruding ears can subject a person to significant distress due to unkind remarks and teasing about the position of the ears. This procedure is performed on children as early as five years of age-before peer pressure occurs-and on adults-resulting in increased self-esteem and confidence.

Eyelids (ex. 1) (ex. 2)
Excessive skin and fat develop over or under the eye and can be an impedance to your vision and a detriment to your appearance. Hooding of your upper eyelids produces a sleepy demeanor; puffiness of the lower eyelids suggests depression and fatigue. Both conditions can contribute to the appearance of premature aging.

Surgical correction is designed to impart a bright, rested and energetic visibility to your eyes, thus enhancing both your appearence and your self image. Correction of a visual obstruction also improves your daily comfort and safety.

This surgery is accomplished by removal of redundant tissue and muscle suspension from either your upper, and/or lower, eyelids, or a re-forming of the eyes natural shape.

Normally this operation is done under a local anesthetic and takes two to three hours. You may return to business and social activities in as little as four days.

Chin Correction
The relationship between your chin, nose and lips may be poorly balanced. Variations in surgical correction for your chin can, if indicated, bring your features into more pleasing proportions. this can be accomplished by enlarging a small receding chin with the use of an implant or by decreasing the size of the chin to achieve more harmony in the profile.

Ear Reconstruction (ex.1) (ex.2)
Ear deformities from birth defects or trauma can be repaired or a total ear can be made using the body's own parts.

This is one of the most difficult procedures in plastic surgery and Dr. Jones is one of the experts in this field in the United States.

Dermabrasion
Scars resulting from acne or other injury to the skin, irregularities of the skin surface, and some types of discoloration of the skin, can be improved by dermabrasion.

Breast Enlargement (ex. 1) (ex. 2) (ex. 3)
An attractive figure contributes to a woman's self-image and self-assurance. Women with limited breast development, tissue loss, or uneven development, may find it difficult to wear some clothing or feel good about themselves.

Breast augmentation can enhance your overall proportion by the correct placement of an implant behind both the breast tissue and chest muscles-presenting a balanced, natural shape. Be sure to discuss the several options available to minimize the possibility of scarring.

Breast Reduction (ex.1) (ex.2)

Mammoth, pendulous breasts can be both a physical and an emotional burden to you. Macromastia upsets the harmony of body contour and detracts from an otherwise pleasing figure. It also is a contributing factor to several uncomfortable medical conditions, such as chronic back and shoulder pain.

Reduction mammoplasty is done under a general anesthetic and may require hospitalization. Most insurance plans cover this operation.

Breast Uplift
Sagging breasts can be lifted into a more youthful posture by reducing the skin envelope. This procedure may be done under a local or general anesthetic.
