Mark Mitchell Jones, M.D., F.A.C.S.
Atlanta Botox® Cosmetic
BOTOX® Cosmetic is highly effective and commonly used to soften or eliminate the appearance of facial wrinkles. It is injected under the skin into areas surrounding the eyes and the forehead to smooth crow’s feet, frown and worry lines. Made from a purified protein called botulinum toxin, Botox® injections block nerve impulses, thus weakening the muscles that are responsible for the undesired wrinkles, giving the face a fresh, youthful look.
An experienced doctor will be able to administer the injections in the correct areas to relax the muscles that cause the wrinkles. Dr. Jones will carefully examine your facial features and muscular structure to determine the optimal locations for Botox® injections. Botox® Cosmetic injections will not radically change your appearance or make you look like you have been “worked on.” Because it is highly localized and administered intramuscularly, its effects are usually confined only to the injected region. Botox® Cosmetic does not remain in your body indefinitely.
No anesthesia is required, and the procedure takes only about ten minutes. Discomfort is minimal and brief. Indeed, many patients compare their Botox® experience to a bug bite. However, Dr. Jones administers Botox® such that he first tricks the pain receptor nerves so that the patient hardly feels the injections. Most patients return to work or normal activity immediately following the treatment. The results start taking effect after about 48 hours after the injection and last between 3-4 months. At that time, the Botox® injections can be repeated.

CAUTION:
Botox injections are available today for prices even below cost. Buyer be aware that many of these suppliers of deeply discounted Botox have had to cut corners. Several ways they do it:
1. Dilute the injections and get more mileage for the same amount of chemical. (BUT lesser and shorter lasting results for the patients with less numbing agent.)
2. Allow less qualified professionals to do the injecting and save labor costs. (BUT it actually matters to a micro detail where the injection is administered. If the person injecting misses the muscle to be numbed, or only hits a small part of it, the patient will continue to use the same muscle to wrinkle the area, perhaps a little less. The effect remains mainly psychological. You also want to have all the injections to hit the right places instead of lots of injections of diluted products with a “hit or miss” approach.)
3. Keep the product on the shelf longer than recommended to not waste the expired Botox. Instead of the recommended one week shelf life, many suppliers keep using the same box for a month. (BUT, again, the patient gets the short end of the stick with a less potent product.)
